"Up All Night"
I found this video on the feedhere.com site and thought that it was a perfect example of a piece of work that could help me in my digital design career. Throughout the semester i have found myself being drawn to things that are a combination of new and old, or high tech and low tech. This video is a perfect blend of both and meets the clients need. Within the video there is hand animated characters, computer generated characters, stop animation, and a simple pan with a video camera. All of these techniques are integrated seamlessly and move to the "beats" of a super mario brothers song. Its because of the music selection and the colors used that the video gives you the old school, bringing it back to being 5 years old vibe.
I think that being able to integrate so many different forms of motion graphics into one piece is a very important skill to have in our field right now, especially with so many companies commissioning works with a nostalgic vibe (i.e. pepsi just redesigning their entire image.) So being able to combine all these different techniques is key in the industry right now; and if something was so good the first time, why shy away from it?!
